I started my company in October of 1990 as a way to fill a need. I have worked for organizations large and small. During that time I noticed that the medium and small business, as well as the home computer segment were finding it difficult to have its technology needs met. Many were using the person in the office that knew the most about I.T. or a friend that was willing to help.

I have been a Microsoft Certified Professional for over thirteen years and have always enjoyed every part of servicing the technology needs of my customers from building a $60,000 multiple server backbone to helping someone print pictures of their loved ones. Because of my ability to perform high end technology work and resource management my career was being pushed into a role that involved very little contact with the customer. I missed seeing a clients eyes light up when I show them in an easy to understand way how to perform a task that has frustrated them for some time.

After managing the team that supported the Mayor, City Manager and City Council offices of San Diego, I decided to devote my energy to medium and small businesses as well as the home user on a full time basis. After running a successful business in San Diego for ten years my wife Christina and I decided to find a new home that filled our need for a sense of community, a reasonable cost of living and the level of peace that we desired.

That began my two year statistical analysis of over 130 metro areas. I began to collect and create data and tables from which I could compare them. In the end the Austin area was the first on our list. My wife and I then visited the Austin area and never looked back, we never even visited the rest of the cities. After that we needed to find a nice small area in which to settle. This brought us to Taylor, the day after our first visit here we put money down on our home. We love life here in Taylor and look forward to a long and happy life here.

This allows the builder to use outdated, cheap and or no-name parts they have in stock or can order cheaply. This often results in instability, inconsistent performance and a shortened life span. Austin Computer Labs is very picky about where we purchase our components and have spent years acquiring relationships with the best and largest hardware and software resellers in the country. This results in extremely competitive pricing and client services. We have so few returns and so thoroughly test any suspected part with such precision that our resellers know that if we call for a replacement it is needed. As a result for many components we offer next day replacement allowing us to replace the part and deliver the repaired computer before returning the failed part. This is especially important with a hard drive that has your important data that you would like to see on the repaired system before the old hard drive is returned.

Computer System Hardware build:
Many builders consider the hardware build an entry level task to be preformed by employees with very little experience and little or no knowledge of the entire computer system. At Austin Computer Labs we study how the different components of your custom computer effect the interior environment. The life of computer components can be extended by matching the heat produced by the computer with a proper cooling strategy. Inexpensive or poorly thought out cooling strategies can be loud, prone to failure and/or cause a computer failure. Computer builders are offered kickbacks for installing trial versions and other free software on the computers they sell. As a result these computers leave the system bogged down with all kinds of junk and soon to expire protection which will cost the client additional money to continue to use. Often the companies that offer those kickbacks are not the best type of software for the client; if they were the best they would not need to payoff the builders in order to sell their software. At Austin Computer Labs we install only the software that the client needs, we sell you the best software available for your unique situation, and we give you the costs up front. We will not install software into your computer until it has been proven to be stable and able to perform the function you desire. This results in a clean, fast well protected computer that just works. When you receive a new computer from the factories you have to activate, initialize, register and configure your software. We install the free utilities that are commonly used like Adobe reader and flash, Apple Quick Time and others. We update and setup all of the software so that you can turn it on and go. Before delivery of your custom built computer we perform strenuous burn in testing to assure that our work and your investment will perform as it should for as long as possible. Many of our clients buy their replacement computers because they want to take advantage of technology advances, not as a reaction to a computer failure.

Delivery setup data transfer:
Austin Computer Labs does not just leave the computer at your doorstep. Our custom computer build cost includes local delivery and assembly. Additionally we are experts at making the transition to a new computer as easy as possible. We can transfer your data and settings, move your previous data to the right place as well as set up email and other applications and services.

Old computer equipment to good use:
Austin Computer Labs does not sell used equipment, if you desire we can remove your old computer and put it to good use. We use the components that still function to build computers that we donate to schools, students and others that can put them to good use.
